How to Hang on to Your Goals without Getting Back to Laziness
In the last article How to Eliminate Laziness by Setting Goals we talked about setting goals. I hope you have come up with your list of goals.
If not, please go back to the previous article and come back only after you have identified at least 2 to 3 goals.
Everyone sets goals but most of us fail to stick to them. Some of us achieve a few goals after it, but we again go back to the laziness routine.
So, How can we Hang on to our Goals without Getting Back to Laziness?
Laziness is always there whether you have goals or not. So, setting goals is not enough.
Laziness is a stubborn monster always waiting to kick in if your goals aren’t motivating enough.
Sometimes you don’t even know that you are deeply into it (Reminds me of the Matrix movie!
).
With in no time, you’ll again fall back into the laziness routine because of the comfort.
How can we deal with this situation?
STEP 2: HANG ON TO YOUR GOALS (KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING!)
This laziness trap can be avoided by making your goals more playful and exciting.
Let’s revisit the goals and see if they are exciting enough.
If not,… we have to alter them using some positive outcome.
A goal like “I’ll clean up my house….” is not at all a motivating goal.
When it’s time for action,… I may rather prefer to stick to a couch instead of cleaning the house.
If you can change it to something like “Let’s make my house beautiful!” which could be more exciting to do.
Don’t set it like a task!… Instead, find out what you want to achieve by doing the it.
A goal like, “I’ll write one article today” can changed to “Let’s make on my blog to get more visitors” makes me feel better.
Keep the goals simple.
An intimidating goal can make you take a big “U” turn and put you on your way back to laziness.
A goal must make you smile when you think of it. Some goals don’t. Change those goals and add some exciting outcome.
Motivating goals can make you proud of yourself way before you achieve them. This forces you to hang on to these goals without falling back.
Your goals are ready now and they are exciting too. What next?
The next challenge is to how achieve the goals.
I will continue the topic Step3: How to Achieve your Goals using Visualization in the next blog article.
